Nostalgic Christmas (New)

This holiday season, we’re introducing one new original scent, inspired by nostalgic Christmas evenings in the 90s. I wanted to focus in on completing one scent that was sentimental and captured my personal childhood Christmas evenings at my Grandmas.

I’m not sure about you, but for me, while I love “perfect” Christmas scents with the ideal pine, or juniper, or perfect roaring fire, that was always what I *wished* Christmas would smell like, rather than what it actually smelled like for me. 

To me, Christmas was sitting on the carpeted living room floor by the coffee table while the adults settled in & caught up, where I got to focus on solely being the only person eating from the Cinnamon Spice Drops on a plastic gumdrop tree that always were deceivingly more intense than their color led you to believe and handfuls of soft peppermint candies individually wrapped in small glass serving trays. 

While we’d wait for dinner to be ready, I’d pass time admiring the carve work on my grandma’s nativity scene on a display table with the real hay in the manger, moss on the roof, and the smell of the wood barn that has been in the attic all year outside of this one special week. 

For fragrance nose feel, we built a plush texture symbolic of velvet ribbons, some wrapped on gifts, others on the artificial Christmas tree, that would smooth out the smell of the Christmas candies. 

And after dinner, after returning from the vinyl floored dining room table, we’d return to the living room for opening gifts and enjoying dessert. My grandma’s neighbor always gifted a fruitcake and homemade marzipan cookies in varying shapes and designs were ready for indulging. 

Nostalgic Christmas is a bold fragrance that instantly captures the cinnamon spice drops, Christmas stollen, and fruitcake, where it’s heavy on the spice, and manages to be both sweet but not gourmand. Rather, it’s dessert-adjacent, as the nativity scene, cloves, and a soft velvet plush accord from our velvet ribbons all come together to just create a bold, spiced holiday that captures more of a full era rather than particular scent in general.

Perfumer's Layering Notes: Try it with Mulled Sugar Plums to soften the spice and create a beautiful warmed cider, Bruleed Mallows to sweeten it up, or add a small amount to either Nutcracker or Pralines & Cream for roasted nuts by the fire.
